Hi everyone!
I’m Nana and I’ll be blogging during the 411 TV: Because I Am A Girl school tour. I’m hosting the tour show and traveling with recording artists Masia One and Eternia. They’ll be blogging here too, and you should watch out for Eternia’s videos, because she’s sneaky with her camera and likes to catch us in our ‘candid’ moments. And Masia’s always thinking of songs on the spot…maybe we can get her to do a special tour song!
Yeah. I think that will be my goal over the next few weeks. A tour song.
Anyway, Friday the 13th was lucky! It was our first school and I was a bit nervous, but the girls at Holy Name of Mary CHS were so open. It was cool that they understood our message right away – that girls around the world are affecting change and that we can help them.
We put on the show during the school’s ‘Girl’s Night In’ so it was at night and just before their dance party… everyone was pretty excited. The girls LOVED Masia and Eternia of course, because they were amazing! Seriously. I was just supposed to be watching their performances, but I couldn’t help dancing on the side of the stage.
For me, the best part of the night was when one of the students ended up beatboxing. Now that was lucky. She was SO good! I don’t even know how it happened, but someone was asking a question at the end of the show and before I knew it my microphone was being used to make music! And Masia was rapping right along with her. Honestly, those kinds of moments just can’t be planned.
It was a great first show. Big up, HNM!
Next stop, Barrie!
