Yesterday a student said she’s always been moved by the fact that women and girls in some countries are forced into sex trafficking. While we don’t directly speak about the issue during our presentation, this student really wanted to do something about it. I gave her a few ideas, but mostly I said she can start right in her city.
Sometimes it feels like an issue you’re passionate about only affects people far away, but if you look closer you’ll see there are people you can help in your town. And if that’s too hard, you can always mobilize with other like-minded people who do live near you, to help people in other countries.
Kind of like the girls at St. Patrick’s.

I think they’ve been the most spirited school for the Because I Am A Girl tour! They told us about their women’s studies class and how they’ve been focusing on the plight of girls around the world. They have involved themselves with the Girl Effect, which we mention in our show. And the students knew all about the Because I Am A Girl movement –they’re even raising money for Plan Canada through fundraising in their school!
There were little posters around the school with phrases representing facts about girls who have fewer opportunities and who face hardships, like “Because I Am A Girl I cook all the food” and “Because I Am A Girl I don’t play sports”.
Keep up the good work girls!

i think that the picture is not right. all girls should have a right to have an oppurtunity to make their own descisions…
