Screen shot 2010-02-17 at 9.00.42 AMI just ordered my Because I am a Girl Book through Amazon and can’t wait ’til it gets here!

A bunch of authors have gotten together and written a collection of stories about the experience of girls around the world, including places like Brazil, Togo, Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Uganda, Ghana and the Dominican Republic.  The stories are apparently hopeful, but also truthful about the real situations girls face including prejudice, abuse and neglect.

Boyd Tonkin at the Indepentent calls it edgy and bold, and says, “It’s not your standard do-good, feel-good collection at all.”

Not only will I learn more about these issues that I’m interested in, but the money I spent on the book also goes directly to Because I am a Girl activities.  Move it, Canada Post!
