It’s time to introduce you to another one of our amazing Speakers’ Bureau girls!  Actually, you’ve met her before when she posted from the UN Conference on the Commission on the Status of Women (check out her blogs here and here).

We know that Saba knows how to get involved and take action:  she’s the vice president of the Anti-Tobacco group, part of the Helping Others Committee, a mentor for Grade 8s, and a prefect at her school.  In her spare time she volunteers as a tutor and hospital volunteer, and is also acting in a school play that she helped to write.  Phew!

Because she’s seen discrimination against girls and women and felt like she wasn’t doing enough to counter it, she joined the Because I am a Girl movement.  She feels like the most important message about girls is that, “There is a solution.  People already know most of the problems that girls face, I think making them recognize girls’ problems are everyone’s problems is vital.”

Clearly an expert on how to make a difference, Saba recommends finding a cause you are passionate about and then learning more about it.  “It just takes a little research.”  The next step is to start a group at your school and use that platform to raise awareness.  Just like the Because I am a Girl movement, any action you take will help make a difference step by step.

Saba wants to know, What action are you going to take today on behalf of girls?
