1. Girl sees ad campaign for Because I am a Girl.
  2. Girl decides to take action.
  3. Girl tells her friends in the Downtown Alternative School (DAS) and they decide to join the campaign.

Result? Cupcakes!

After deciding to take action, the girls in the DAS Roots & Shoots group planned an awareness and fundraising campaign involving bulletin boards, skits at the school assembly, and a bake sale. As well, the girls represented the campaign in their Because I am a Girl T-shirts and invited the school to buy Gifts of Hope.

According to the group coordinator, the girls felt really empowered participating in the campaign.
