Ndungu and Sarah, who ran the Edinburgh Marathon for girls recently (and Ndungu in a kilt, no less), share with us why girls are worth running a marathon for:

Ndungu’s List:

  1. In poor countries, girls are often more marginalized than boys and therefore need a helping hand.
  2. Running 42 kilometers in 30 degrees heat seems somehow less crazy when you are running for girls.
  3. Girls look a lot cuter in a dress than boys.
  4. Running for girls beats running after girls any day.
  5. There is no better way to make a difference.

Sarah’s List:

  1. In poor countries, girls are often more marginalized than boys and therefore need a helping hand
  2. Running 42 kilometers in 30 degrees heat seems somehow less crazy when you are running for girls rights.
  3. Having a goal of running for girls to go to school in Liberia really helps when you ‘hit the wall’.
  4. Pink is a great colour for a race!
  5. There is no better way to make a difference
