One of the coolest things about being the blogger for Because I am a Girl is that I get to hear about girls have taken the thing that they are passionate about, and used it to raise awareness and money for girls around the world that face discrimination, poverty, and insecurity.

This week’s girl that rocks has picked a Honda C65 Cub motorcycle as her vehicle for change. This summer, Julia will be riding from Brampton to Newfoundland to complete the bike’s journey across Canada that was started in 1971 by the original owner. Not only is she taking part in a past time that is often seen as boys-only or macho, but she’s doing it to support other girls who may not have the freedom to go on a similar adventure.

18-year-old Julia’s goal, as well as raising awareness, is to raise $1 per kilometre that the motorcycle has travelled across Canada, for a total of $10,000!!!! You can reach her fundraising page to help her meet her goal.

And make sure to follow her online during her adventure or leave her a message of support!
